I also might have tried to take a Latin proficiency exam for the language requirement if I'd been more on top of things when I entered school, but it's been way too long since I worked with Latin to pass such an exam now. Translation of classic works on Islam from Arabic to English, editing, proofreading, bi-lingual typesetting and production of e-books (ePub and Kindle). I got credit for a physics lecture and lab through an AP Physics course in high school, skipped English 100 with my ACT score, took a CLEP exam for English 200, and I took Trig for my math requirement instead of basic fundamentals and algebra. My university often does this for various language courses. Often you can also approach the department that teaches a given course and ask them to customize a test for you, if you are especially familiar with the subject and there isn't a standardized option. We also use your math ACT score to determine what level you start taking math courses - you don't get credit for the prior classes, but you can start at a higher level to get your required hours instead of having to sit through basics that you already know. My school also lets you skip English 100 (very basic grammar, sentence structure, and reading comprehension) if you scored high enough on the relevant sections of the ACT, a standardized test that is supposed to measure your general college readiness. Most schools will likewise give CLEP credit in one way or another. Likewise, there's CLEP (College Level Examination Program), run by the same organization I believe, that offers a set of standardized tests in various subjects. Most schools give AP credit in one way or another. Each college sets their own requirement on what credit they'll give you for a given score.

There are AP (Advanced Placement) courses that you can take in high school which are intended to do this they spend a full year teaching what you would learn in a single semester in college, and you take a standardized test (usually with lots of writing, in my experience, not like multiple choice bullshit) and earn a score.

If you’re ready to take the plunge but don’t want to start completely from scratch, this tutorial will show you how to transfer your finished BookSmart photo book into BookWright.Sometimes (it varies by school, by department, and by class) you can take a test to demonstrate that you have mastered the material taught in a given college course to be exempted from having to take that course. It’s missing a few features I love (text styles and setting an aspect ratio to photo boxes) but there are great things about BookWright that were missing in BookSmart (ability to work in a spread format, auto alignment, and custom margin guides). I don’t have insider knowledge but BookWright definitely seems to be the direction Blurb is heading.

So far I havent had a great amount of paid sales, because I didnt follow supposed best practices for launching books to the letter: gathering reviews before launch, participating in forums/websites where my target audience hang out, setting up Free Promo days straight away to get the word out, etc. And I recommend testing out the upload process within BookSmart at the beginning before investing time in a photo book that can no longer be uploaded for printing.īut all is not lost! There’s a way to import your BookSmart photo book into BookWright – either to keep working on a book-in-progress or to use your favorite layouts for your next BookWright photo book. In the future I might spread out, well see what the demand is like. You may still be able to open and upload a book you’ve already started….but I’m not sure that will always be an option in the future.
